Command Strips vs VELCRO Strips
Both stick to the wall and both come off cleanly. The difference is whether the frame does — and that decides which one you want.

Command strips if the frame goes up and stays up. VELCRO HANGables if it comes down again. Command interlocks permanently and is consumed on removal; HANGables uses hook-and-loop, so the frame lifts off the wall pad and goes straight back.

Pick Command if…
- The frame is going up once. Most gallery walls, most bedroom and hallway art. You are not paying for removability you will not use.
- The frame is slim and seen from the side. A hook-and-loop pad holds the frame a few millimeters off the wall, which reads on a thin profile.

- The frame has a wire or sawtooth back. The Command range includes sticky-nail hangers rated 5 lb and 8 lb for exactly that, which VELCRO does not match.
Pick VELCRO HANGables if…
- You will take it down. Seasonal art, a child’s artwork you rotate, anything in a rented place you may rearrange. Command strips cost money every time; these cost nothing.
- It gets knocked. In a hallway or beside a door, a frame on hook-and-loop can be pushed straight in a second. On Command strips, a crooked frame usually stays crooked.
- You want one product for the whole job. A single set of four covers up to 16 lb, so you are not counting sets.
Removal — the part people get wrong
Both systems remove by stretch-release: pull the tab straight down, slowly, parallel to the wall, and keep pulling until the strip releases on its own. Pull outward and you take paint.

Are VELCRO strips stronger than Command strips?
They are comparable. VELCRO HANGables removable wall fasteners are rated up to 16 lb per pack; Command Large Picture Hanging Strips reach 16 lb per frame using four sets. The meaningful difference is that the VELCRO frame detaches and goes back, and the Command frame does not.
Can you reuse Command strips?
No. Flat Command picture strips interlock permanently and are consumed when the frame comes off — re-hanging needs new strips. Command hooks can be reused with replacement refill strips, and hook-and-loop fasteners are reusable by design.
Which is better for a gallery wall?
