What to give, by how well you know the place
- You have not seen it. Give the hanging kit and a picture ledge. No taste assumptions at all, and both work in any room.
- You have seen it but not the finished decor. Give something neutral — black-and-white photography, a line drawing, a textural abstract. It will still work after they choose a sofa. Why neutral survives a room change.
